What Is a Fire Bucket

Types of Fire-Buckets

Fire-buckets can be classified by a few different criteria – mainly based on what they’re filled with, their shape, and how they are stored.

By Filling Material

  1. Water-filled Buckets

    • Used for general “Class A” fires (combustible materials: wood, paper, cloth).

    • When thrown, water helps cool down burning material.

  2. Sand-filled Buckets

    • Very useful when there’s a risk of flammable liquid spills (like oil).

    • Sand smothers the fire by starving oxygen and also helps contain/absorb the liquid.

    • Preferred in garages, workshops, chemical areas, places where water may spread the flammable liquid.
